We have two Scholarships, the George M Zorn Moose Legion Scholarship and the Johnson Family Moose Legion Scholarship. To earn these a student must have a 3.0 GPA, have done some community service volunteering and give us a short resume on themselves.

Members of the Moose children and grand children have the first chance of applying for these scholarships.

If we do not receive any applications the scholarship will go to a deserving student from the N S B high school.

Applications must be in by 3/31 of each year.

Checks will be made out to the College or University that they will be attending.

                     FIRST PLACE

Congratulations to the New Smyrna Beach Moose Lodge 1835 Pool Team. The brought home the First Place ECFAPA Southern 9 Ball Championship.  Thanks to our team, Steve Sills, Marty Baker, Brenda Granieri, Jim Young, Jerry Gunther, Adam Kelley, and Vince Arbuthnoe.  Great job guys.

You can now access the web site at the Lodge. A computer has been set up in the Social Quaters so that  those members who do not have a computer can access Lodge 1835/Chapter 1515 web site in order to keep up with the happenings of the lodge and chapter. We encourage all to utilize this computer when you enter the Social Quarters.  This is just another way we are trying to make your Lodge the Friendliest place in town.

                                GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE

Our Family Center had another great year in 2009. I wish to extend a special thanks to all members for your support of the Lodge and Chapter.

The joint efforts of the Chapter and Lodge made the Children’s Christmas Party and big success! We had 30+ children who had a fun afternoon with pizza , soda, ice cream, karaoke, AND gifts from Santa. A great time was had by all. Our special thanks to all who volunteered and made it all possible.

As I am sure you have heard what a sensational lasagna dinner that the women recently put on, I want to let you know they are planning another scheduled for 01/28/10. Please purchase these tickets in social quarters so the women will know how many to plan on for this scrumptious dinner. There will be great entertainment after dinner with Jim & Doris doing karaoke.

Our New Year’s Eve celebration was another big success with a packed house. We could not sell too may tickets at the door as the social quarters filled up quickly. In the future, we will probably request members to purchase tickets in advance and not sell them at the door in order that we do not go over the limit of occupancy. We do not want to have to turn members away, however, we do have the occupancy limit. I am sure that everyone attending New Year’s Eve had a great time bringing in 2010!

Members interested in becoming involved with our WII bowling can contact Jerry Gunther in social quarters. If he is not in when you call or come in , leave your name and phone #. He will get back to you. We have a league at this time with a minimal fee which goes to donations for the Boy Scout Troop we are currently sponsoring. You can also play for fun anytime you are in when it does not conflict with other functions going on at that time. Come on in and enjoy!

Hoping to see everyone in the Family Center soon.

Fraternally,
Al Harper, Governor

                                   ADMINISTRATOR'S DESK

We are so proud of our member who helps with community service projects; both lodge and chapter do a fantastic job in this area. During the past nine months we have donated over $11,289.64 to charities and organizations in our area. Our members have volunteered 8,105 hours and driven 10,738 miles.

This is what fraternalism is all about and you lodge and chapter members are leaders in this field.

A big thanks to all of you who walks the walk instead of just talking. You are the ones who makes a difference in our community.

Fraternally

Dear Moose Brother and Sisters:

This Moose Fraternity takes care of children from this country. We do not sent our money to other countries. We take care of our own.

We house and school hundreds of children each year, and 80%, are sent to college as you know there is a great cost involved. 10% are taught a vocation and the other 10% yearly join the military and today are fighting around the world for your freedom.

How can we let these  boys and girls down?

   Applications fees are only $20.00

Dues are only $45.00 of which $30.00 goes to Moose International and $.50 goes to the Florida Bermuda Moose Association and we are left with only $14.50 to support the lodge and our community projects. Total $65.00

The "Child City will be 100 years old soon and we have helped almost 12,000 children in need who have been raise their. We seem to donate more to other countries these days but its time to take care of our own. We need your help.

By signing a member you can make a difference.

Where will these unwanted children go if we have to close our "Child City" Mooseheart.

We wish to thank you on there behalf.

In this world we live in we can not fail our children. You can pay your dues or get an application on line by going to: www.mooseintl.org or go to links on our web page click the pay dues bar, enter the MID number on your expired dues card, click and follow the instructions

REACH OUT AND HELP A LOST MEMBER

Do you know someone who has become a LOST MEMBER.....if so, why not reach out to that LOST  member and find out why he or she didn't renew their membership.

Experience has shown us that the majority of Moose members that are LOST, occurs at the end of their first year of membership. They either have lost interest, haven't been properly informed as to what the Moose is all about or....they have been left to fend for themselves.

It is up to each and everyone of us to make sure that those new members are made to feel welcomed and part of the Organization. What does it take when seeing a member entering the Family Center to just say, "Hi, how you doing, glad to see you again" . A simple smile and greeting goes a very, very long way. Maybe sit next to that member, talk a little, get to know him or her, make them feel like they are truly part of the family.

All members should remember that you will only receive one(1) dues notice. If you aren't sure when your dues expires, look at your membership card, the expiration date is on it. You can easily renew your dues online or simply mail your dues in along with your dues renewal invoice.

Don't you become a LOST MEMBER .....and don't let others become LOST...

We should all re-aquaint ourselves with what being a Moose member is all about and the oath we took when we became a member. Go to the links provided on the links page, view the videos about the Child City,  Moosehaven, GIMME5, and the Moose Fraternity. Take a few minutes and watch these videos. It is a great way to rekindle your desire to remain a part of this great organization and HELP....

Remember, someone took the time to give you the gift of being a Moose member, so Pay It Foward. Sponsor a relative, a friend, a co-worker, and above all stay in contact with those you brought into the Moose.

Most of all, keep the fire burning in your heart for our Children at Mooseheart and our Seniors at Moosehaven.

AGAIN, DON'T BECOME A LOST MEMBER.....
